Our Mission

The Bible teaches, “whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). As a new church we seek to be a worshipping people above all, not merely in our songs and prayers, but in the culture and attitude of   everything we do in life.  Our mission is to live the Gospel out in Grand River and beyond everyday in everyway we can.  We are asking God to use us …

“To completely transform our families, community and world into devoted followers of Jesus Christ through the Word of God.”

We are inviting you to join us in fulfilling this mission, the very reason for which you were created – To enjoy the God who made you!  We will teach the Bible with conviction and without gimmicks.  We will do our best to build marriages and families that live in love and joy together.  We will love one another and our neighbors and show it through serving.  We will take the unique and glorious message that Jesus saves sinners to all the nations, not as salesmen but as friends. Why do we do church like this? Because it’s not ours… it’s God’s, and He has shown us the path to real life, real relationships, and real joy and satisfaction in the world – Life lived to His glory!

I want to invite you to come and see for yourself that church isn’t about a building or religious slogans, but about real people seeking the face of the real God. We welcome everyone, there is no qualification to get through the door, just a willingness to be loved by us and learn with us.  We certainly aren’t perfect people, but we know the God who is and who has loved you before you were born. It’s a pleasure to see Grand River Community Chapel begin serving the people of Grand River and  beyond.  I look  forward to meeting you on those Sundays I’ll be preaching. My prayer is that you would join us in seeing God’s glory put on display throughout all of Northeast Ohio. There’s a place for you in that great mission!

Grand River Community Chapel’s Statement of Faith:

 1. We believe that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is verbally inspired and the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

2. We believe that there is only one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14).  God the Father is the creator of all things (Genesis 1:1) and is sovereign in creation, providence, and redemption (Romans 11:36).  Jesus Christ possesses all the divine attributes and is coequal and coeternal with the Father (John 10:30; 14:9).  At the incarnation Christ surrendered the free use of those divine attributes, but never surrendered His deity, so that He might accept the characteristics of humanity and become the only God-Man (Philippians 2:5-8; Colossians 2:9).  The Holy Spirit is a divine person, eternally possessing all the attributes of personality and deity (1 Corinthians 2:10-13).  He executes the will of the Father in relation to mankind.  He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing believers into the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13).  He indwells, sanctifies, instructs, and empowers the saints for service, sealing them unto the day of final redemption (Romans 8:9; 2 Corinthians 3:6; Ephesians 1:13).

 3. We believe that man was created in the image of God; that man rejected God and as a result of this rebellion (referred to as The Fall) was separated from God and was placed under the condemnation of death; and that the entire human race shares in man’s lost condition.

 4. We believe that Jesus Christ is the promised Son of God, the fullness of God in human form.  As eternal God, He was the Word of God (John 1:1).  He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, was crucified (as our sacrificial substitute) for our sin, conquered death by raising form the dead, ascended to the right hand of the father, and will personally return in power and glory to judge the living and the dead, and to establish his Kingdom.

 5.  We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins (Ephesians 2:8-10; John 1:2; Ephesians 1:18; 1 Peter 1:18-19).  Through Christ the sinner is justified before God whereby He declares the guilty sinner not guilty (Romans 8:33).  Through the substitution of Christ, man’s sin is imputed to Christ and Christ’s righteousness is imputed to man (2 Corinthians 5:21).  God’s wrath is satisfied as His grace is lavished through forgiving sin.  Every believer is sanctified unto God through justification and declared holy unto Him instantly (Acts 20:32; Hebrews 2:11).  All the redeemed are eternally kept by God and secure in Christ forever (John 5:24, 6:37-40; Romans 5:9-10, 8:1).

 6.  We believe that Jesus Christ will return to bring all things to judgment, to set up His kingdom, to bring this age to a close, and to initiate the new heavens and earth.  We believe every person will be resurrected from the dead; the believers to an eternal life of blessedness and joy, unbelievers to everlasting punishment, and Satan forever put down in the Lake of Fire (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:5-6, 11-15).

 7.  We believe that the Church is commissioned by Christ to “preach the gospel to every creature” and to “make disciples of all nations.”  Having received the gospel, every member is an ambassador of the gospel to their world.  The mission of the local church is to disciple its members to be able to pass on the truth to others as they share the gospel in all they do.

 8.  To commemorate the work of salvation, we celebrate two ceremonies (ordinances of the faith);  (1) baptism, as a symbol of our cleansing and our new identity as Christians by entering into the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ; and (2) the Lord’s Supper, as a symbol of our commitment to the work of redemption – secured through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Matt 28: 19-20; Acts 8:36-38; Rom 6:1-5; I Cor 11: 17-32)
